How does OSE II work?

Biochemical process of OSE II

Biosurfactants work by decoding polar compounds present in oil and hydrocarbons, altering their polarity. This process breaks covalent and ionic bonds, allowing oil and water to mix.

During this process, enzymes and micronutrients bind to the micelles, forming a complex package of enzymatic nutrients.

The affinity of certain enzymes for different hydrocarbon chains allows these small packages of micronutrients—composed of the three basic storage blocks for bacterial growth (carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus)—to connect or attach to the micelles through specialized covalent and ionic bonds. These micelles are subsequently digested by bacteria, resulting in their conversion into CO₂ and water.
